4 Surprising Benefits of An Adjustable Mattress

sstwin_king_size2.jpgWhile most anyone can realize some of the more obvious benefits of an adjustable bed, as with most things there are some not so obvious benefits that can be quite surprising. The benefit increase even more if you have a dual zone adjustable bed, allowing you and your bed partner to choose the perfect elevation and position for each of you.
First, did you know that an adjustable bed can help reduce heartburn and damage from acid reflux? In fact, many doctors recommend not lying flat if you are suffering from acid reflux, as this allows the acid to flow more freely up the esophagus. The idea is to keep stomach acid from rising and thus causing esophageal damage. An adjustable bed allows you to sleep with your head elevated in a comfortable position, and if you have a dual zone your partner can choose their own comfort level.
An adjustable mattress can make breastfeeding easier. Of course, this is more for women, but imagine being able to reach over and take your little one out of the bassinet, raise your mattress to a sitting position, nurse him, and put him back in the bassinet all without adjusting pillows or even getting up. This allows for quicker transition between wake and sleep, and thus a more well rested mamma.
Being able to adjust your mattress can actually offer cold and sinus relief. Mucus drains better when the head is elevated, and elevating the chest can soothe a cough. It is not a cure, but how many times have you ended up in the recliner to ease a cough or stuffy nose? With an adjustable bed, you do not even have to get up to get the same effect.
An adjustable mattress can help relieve swollen, aching legs, ankles, and feet. Often the problem is poor circulation, and being able to adjust the elevation of the lower body can go a long way toward improving circulation
While these are not the only benefits to be had from an adjustable mattress, they are some of the more commonly overlooked.  How could an adjustable mattress help you?

How a New Mattress Could Improve Academic Performance

Whether you are a parent raising a student or a student yourself, it is likely you are willing to do many things to improve your grades.   Variousid-10058965-2.jpg study habits and even strict diets and schedules are used by students every year in an effort to maximize performance.  Few realize that a new mattress could make a real difference in academic success.   Of course this improvement is likely not a direct result of the new mattress as much as a direct result of the improved sleep that the right mattress provides.  Therefore, it is important to choose the right kind of mattress to best solve the specific, individual sleep problems of each student.

Adjustable Mattress

These are ideal for many types of sleep issues.  It is most successful with students in solving drainage issues at night.  Allergies, illness, and general sinus issues can get worse when lying down.  An adjustable mattress allows for the head to be raised to just the right level for each individual, relieving many of these issues and resulting in more restful sleep.  Other alternatives such as extra pillows or risers under the head of the bed may serve their purpose, but there can be issues with slipping.  Also, there is extremely limited potential for customization, as adjustment requires a full new pillow or riser, which may be too much.  An adjustable mattress allows the sleeper to get things just right.

Memory Foam Mattress

While a spring mattress is better than sleeping on the ground, why settle for just "better."  Why not seize every opportunity and aim for the "best."   This is true with your choice of mattress as well as everything else in life, including academics.  The fact is, a memory foam mattress offers much better support and luxury than standard mattresses.  They also retain less heat, which results in a cooler sleeping surface.  The end game is a more restful sleep and a less painful waking.  Neck, back, and leg pain can be drastically reduced by switching to a memory foam mattress.

Air Mattress

College students often have to settle for non-traditional sleeping arrangements, and if that arrangement includes a sleeper sofa, an air mattress could make a huge difference.  Sleeper sofa mattresses are notorious for being uncomfortable.  The Air Dream Sleeper System reduces virtually all of the characteristics that cause this to be the case.  Sleeping on a sofa never felt so good.
Sleep is important to everyone for a variety of reasons, but for students grades are the issue at hand.  There is a direct correlation between sleep amount and quality and academic success.  Sometimes a new mattress is all it takes.

Stop Putting Yourself Last: Get a Tempur-Pedic Mattress Today

8original_size2.jpgThere are a few in the world who sacrifice themselves for the good of others.  Often this means doing without certain items of comfort in an effort to save money or allow someone else to have what we are denying ourselves.  In the case of a good mattress however, this should not be.  In fact, doing so can actually do more damage to others than good, not to mention the damage it does to the one doing the sacrificing.  A Tempur-pedic mattress can mean the difference between health and illness, happiness and depression, and even wealth or poverty.
This may sound odd, but it is very true.  Research shows that a good night's sleep is vital to health and functionality.  We simply cannot function for any significant amount of time without sleep, let alone function to the best of our ability.  Our immune system starts to falter, our brain function gets sketchy, and eventually we just get sick.  That is, of course, if we do not have some sort of accident first.  That is what depriving yourself of a great night of sleep by not purchasing a needed new mattress can do to you, despite the reason behind the sacrifice.

It can affect the very people you are trying to help too though.  Consider how your kids, parents, or anyone else you are sacrificing for will suffer at the hands of a sleep deprived you.  It could be traumatic at best and disastrous at worst.   If the mattress you are sleeping on is truly causing you to lose sleep, you will do everyone around you a favor by buying yourself a Tempur-pedic mattress to remedy the situation.  One of the reasons you need to be at your best is because others are depending one you.  You cannot be what they need you to be if you are sleep deprived.
To find the right memory foam mattress  consider what you need versus what you have.  If you have a mattress that supports well but does not offer enough cushion, a memory foam mattress topper may be enough.  If, however, your current mattress is uncomfortable and offers poor support, a whole memory foam mattress is likely the answer.  Do your research and then feel good about doing something good for yourself.

Do You Need Special Sheets for Your Tempur-pedic Advanced Ergo Bed?

SheetsNothing feels better than a new set of sheets, especially if those sheets are on a Tempur-pedic adjustable bed. If you are new to the adjustable bed scene you may be wondering what type of sheets you need to purchase. Can you use standard sheets with your adjustable bed or do you need something special?

Standard Sheets Will Fit

Most adjustable bases fit standard sized mattress. This means that regular sheets will generally easily fit your mattress. However, things get a little trickier when you start adjusting the bed. As the head and foot of the bed move, the sheets move also and can pop off the corners and ends of the bed. Many adjustable bed owners find that constantly fixing their sheets can quickly become a hassle.
With a Tempur-pedic adjustable bed it is important to choose sheets with plenty of room. Sheets that are overly tight will pop off much more easily than sheets that are roomier. Additionally when the elastic starts to wear out, the problem can get worse.
You don’t need special sheets, but you probably want to choose your sheets carefully, especially if you are going to use standard sheets. Purchase sheets for your particular bed size; don’t make the mistake of buying sheets that are too large. Simply look for sheets that are a little roomier and replace them when the elastic starts to wear.

Adjustable Bed Sheets Are Available

If you don’t want to use standard sheets, special adjustable bed sheets are available. These sheets are designed to work with a Tempurpedic Advanced Ergo bed and are generally a little roomier than standard sheet sets. Some adjustable bed sheets also have other special features like a fitted end on the flat sheet to keep things together a little more or special clasps to hold things in place. Adjustable bed sheets do tend to be more expensive than standard sheets
If you’re wondering, “Do I need special sheets for my adjustable bed?” the answer is no, but you might find that you like them. One thing we definitely recommend though no matter what type of sheets you choose is a mattress protector to help keep your mattress clean.

Get the Right Mattress Before You Get Old

id-10043596-2.jpgWe've all heard it time and again.  The elderly warn us daily to take care of our bodies now or we will regret it later.  Our backs, knees, feet, head, heart, digestive system, and pretty much every part of our bodies we take for granted daily will eventually wear out.  While we cannot stop this, a few precautions can slow down the process.  Medical professionals tell us daily exercise, eating right, drinking plenty of water, and getting an annual checkup can make a huge difference.  Getting plenty of sleep is right up there on that list also.  One thing that can help that we do not so commonly considers is the right mattress from Tempurpedic.

Don't Skimp on a Good Mattress

While saving a buck is nothing to be laughed at, certain things in life are well worth a little extra dough to get much better quality.  Among these are vitamins, sheets, and yes, mattresses.  It is no coincidence that two of the items on this incomplete list have to do with your sleeping surface.  We spend a huge amount of our lives sleeping or trying to sleep.  Sleep plays a major role in our physical and mental wellbeing.  As such, our time sleeping should be as "sleep productive" as possible to maximize all of its benefits.  A cheap mattress is simply not conducive to this.  It does not have to be me the most expensive, but a good firm spring mattress or a solid, luxurious memory foam mattress like a Tempurpedic can make all the difference.  Do not wait until you already have problems.  Get the perfect mattress now and stop them before they start.

Pay Attention to Your Body

If you feel older than you should then there is likely something wrong.  It could be your mattress.  That ache in your back or that crick in your neck may be nothing, but it could be a direct result of the wrong mattress.  If you do not correct this now, the problems will be that much worse when you get older.

Consider Your Options

Of course, the "right" mattress depends on exactly what you need.  Is support an issue?  What about comfort?  Do you need added options for sleeping positions?  A firmer mattress, a Tempur-Pedic mattress, or an adjustable mattress could be the answer, depending on the question.  The point is, do not wait until you are older.  Get a better mattress now and make your golden years much more enjoyable.

Is It Easier to Read in an Adjustable Bed?

Adjustable BedGrabbing a book and reading it while you nod off to sleep is one of life simplest pleasures, but sometimes it can be a bit uncomfortable. There is a solution besides skipping the book. An adjustable bed is a great way to get comfortable while reading, doing crafts, watching TV and living your life.
If you’ve been wanting to make extra time for reading in this coming year, consider getting an adjustable bed. With the right bed and a few simple changes to your lifestyle, you can explore new worlds as you immerse yourself in a great book. Whether you love classics, sci-fi or something else, an adjustable bed can change the way you read.
Sitting Up or Laying Down in Minutes
A push of a button is all it takes to transform an adjustable bed from laying down to sitting up. This makes it easy to climb into bed with a good book and find a comfortable position for reading. You’ll find beds with both wired and wireless remotes. Most beds require that both you and your partner share the same position, but as long as you both enjoy reading, this shouldn’t be a problem.
You’ll Read More When It’s Convenient
One of the biggest hurdles many people face when trying to find time to read is a busy schedule. They want to read more, but just don’t have the time. An adjustable bed can help with this problem. While it can’t make more time in the day, it can help you to read in the evenings rather than tossing and turning while you wait to fall asleep or dozing off in front of the TV. Setting up your bedroom with a bedside table, a lamp and a few good books will also help you to foster the habit. When it’s easy to read, you’ll find fewer excuses and you’ll be able to achieve your goal.
Make the commitment this year to read more. Whether it’s the magazine that you’ve been dying to read or the book that’s been on your reading list for years, an adjustable bed will help. You’ll find that reading is much more comfortable when you can position your body without having to use a mountain of pillows.

Do I Really Need an Adjustable Bed?
Sleep is vital to our success in life.  Frankly, we cannot function without it.  So what should we do if we are not sleeping well?  There are several things we can do to help us sleep better, including cutting out caffeine, relaxing before bed, and even talking to a doctor.  However, sometimes the answer to our problems is as simple as changing our bed.  You can change your mattress of course, but our issues can go beyond that.  Sometimes an adjustable bed is the best solution.
The Head
Often sleeping flat or with only our head raised causes more sleep issues than we realize.  Breathing problems, back problems, and leg discomfort can all be a problem.  You can adjust pillows all you want, but if you have allergies, a head cold, or other sinus problems you are still not going to be able to breath.  We resort to sleeping in a chair or recliner in these situations, but if the problem is chronic this Is not a reasonable answer.  An adjustable bed will allow you to adjust the entire upper half of your body so that these problems are much more manageable at bed time.
The Legs
Legs are often a source of discomfort at bedtime.  They can ache and twitch, both which can often surprisingly be relieved by simply elevating them, or elevating the knees.  An adjustable bed allows for this at the touch of a button, without fighting pillows under your knees or feet in the middle of the night.  This not only helps you sleep better, but reduces interruptions to your bed partner as well.  Adjusting your side of the adjustable bed is much less disruptive than the one person pillow fight.
The Back
Low back pain is one of the most common ailments among men and women.  Sleeping flat on your back without any lower back support only exasperates he problem.  The ability to adjust the mattress to a sleep position that better supports the back can be life changing for those suffering from this kind of pain.
There are other options that can have the same effect as an adjustable bed.  Recliners and extra pillows in various positions all get the job done, but they do not get it done nearly as well as adjustable beds.  Sometimes you just need something more.  Sometimes you need an adjustable bed.

Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby: The Importance of the Right Mattress While Pregnant

id-10063454-2.jpgDid you know that the type of mattress you sleep on can affect your baby both before and after it is born?  Obviously after it is born it is directly affected by the mattress it sleeps on itself, whether that is your mattress or its own.  However, even while in utero a baby is affected by its mother's well-being, and the type of mattress that the mother sleeps on can affect her well-being tremendously.

Expectant Mothers Need Sleep

Expectant mothers have enough interrupting their sleep without discomfort caused by a mattress making matters worse. So many factors the can affect sleep can be lessened by sleeping on the right mattress.  Everything from getting too hot to aches and pains and even indigestion can be affected by the mattress.  Pregnant women that are overly tired suffer from unnecessary stress that can have a negative effect on their babies.
Sleeping Temperature

If sleeping hot is a problem, a latex or memory foam mattress can be the solution.  They retain less heat, which results in a cooler sleeping surface.  If all the new baby gear has put a dent in the budget and a new mattress is not possible, a memory foam mattress topper can do the trick just as well.
Extra Support

Pregnant women need extra support.  They just weigh more.  There is no shame in; they are just supposed to weigh more.  This means they need a firmer sleeping surface than they might need normally.  In this case, a full on memory foam mattress may not be the best bet.  A firmer spring mattress might work better, and a memory foam mattress topper can be added if needed for extra comfort.
Adjustable Positions

Pregnant women often need to sleep with their upper body raised to reduce heartburn and indigestion.  They also may need to elevate their feet to relieve swelling, or support their knees due to circulation issues.  An adjustable bed and adjustable mattress can make this process much easier.  After the baby is born the same positions can offer comfort for the duration.
Expectant mothers simply have special sleep needs.  The health of their baby depends heavily on their own health, which depends heavily on their quality and quantity of sleep.  The right mattress can make all the difference.

Cell Phones Interrupt Sleep!!

Is Your Cell Phone Interfering With Your Sleep?

MattressGetting a good night’s sleep is important, but all too often we find ourselves tossing and turning rather than peacefully slumbering. Sure having a comfortable mattress or a memory foam mattress can help, but this isn't the only key to a good night's sleep. If you are suffering from insomnia, you might be surprised to learn that your cell phone could be the culprit.

Lighted Screens Can Interfere with Sleep

Scientific studies have proven again and again that lighted screens like computers, TVs and even smartphone screens can interfere with the body’s ability to produce melatonin, a chemical that prompts your body to fall asleep. This is one reason why sleep experts often recommend turning off the TV and the computer a few hours before bed.
The light from your cell phone screen can cause the same effects, especially if you use it often. If you want to sleep better, consider putting your smartphone down before bed time to give your body a chance to produce melatonin.

Cell Phones Can Wake You Up

The lights from your cell phone screen aren’t the only potential hindrance to sleep your phone can cause. Text messages, email alerts and phone calls can be equally disturbing. If your cell phone regularly goes off during the night, you may want to consider silencing it before you head to bed. Interrupting sleep can disrupt critical sleep cycles, making you feel tired, even after a full night’s rest. Putting the phone on silent is an easy way to combat middle of the night phone calls and can greatly improve your quality of sleep.

Other Things to Try

In addition to turning off your cell phone, there are other tactics you can use to reduce insomnia. Getting a comfortable mattress is key. If you wake up in the morning feeling tired and sore, it may be time for a new mattress. Having the proper support at night will keep you from tossing and turning. An adjustable bed or a memory foam mattress is often the most comfortable way to sleep. Adding a memory foam topper to your current mattress might make a difference.

Cell phones are an important part of modern life, but if you aren’t careful they can get in the way of your sleep. These tips in addition to a comfortable mattress will help you combat insomnia so you can sleep better at night and feel better in the morning.
